She was born ( Dolly Rebecca Parton ) on  19, January , 1946 in a one-room cabin on the banks of the Little Pigeon River in Pittman Center, Tennessee in the southeastern United States. She celebrates her birthday on  19, January every year. Her father ( Robert Lee Parton Sr. ) who worked  in the mountains of East Tennessee, first as a sharecropper and later tending his own small tobacco farm and acreage while her mother ( Avie Lee Caroline ) , cared for their large family. Parton is not the only child in the family, she is the fourth of twelve children.

Dolly Parton is married to her handsome husband Carl Thomas Dean,  who is famous American singer born on July 20, 1942 in Nashville, Tennessee. The two love couples tied their knots on May 30, 1966 in Ringgold, Georgia.

Music career

Dolly made her album debut in 1967 with Hello, I’m Dolly that led to her success during the remainder of the 1960s (both as a solo artist and with a series of duet albums with Porter Wagoner), before her sales and chart peak came during the 1970s and continued into the 1980s.

She was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1999 and by that time Dolly had composed over 3,000 songs, including “I Will Always Love You” (a two-time U.S. country chart-topper, as well as an international pop hit for Whitney Houston), “Jolene”, “Coat of Many Colors”, and “9 to 5”.

Despite having a successful career in music , she decided to write the songs for a new musical based on her earlier hit workplace comedy, 9 to 5. The show, starring Allison Janney (who won a Tony for the role), ran on Broadway for several months in 2009.

In 2012, Dolly published her book Dream More: Celebrate the Dreamer in You. She is also the author of the memoir Dolly: My Life and Other Unfinished Business (1994).
